Stephens County commissioner Michelle Ivester on Tuesday praised the work on installation of a kayak/canoe launch dock with concrete steps and railing at Yonah Dam Park. During Tuesday’s county commission meeting, Ivester said that a grant from Georgia Power of $10,000 made the dock possible. Early voting for Stephens County's Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) will begin in mid-October, according to elections superintendent Eureka Gober. County and city municipalities recently agreed to splitting the proceeds from the 1 percent sales tax should voters choose to continue allowing the collections after the current one ends on June 30, 2020.
